Welcome to Yvestown PDF Print E-mail

Welcome to Yvestown, Yvestown is a modern, town layout planned for 'N' Gauge using Peco Settrack.

The town contains a three platform station and an avoiding line for passing freight. There will also be a small preserved line which will operate in the back of the layout behind the town and will operate a shuttle service between two stations (currently not shown on trackplan).

Why Yvestown?

Yvestown is not intended to be a model railway with a town built around it, but more of a fictional town with a railway that runs through it. The name is derived from the name of my daughter Yvonne - its Yve's town - and so Yvestown it is.

You won't believe it!!! PDF Print E-mail

After the last post, with the board being suspended from the ceiling, my friend's layout (the one who suspended my layout from the ceiling with the 'its perfectly safe' quote) fell from the ceiling twice and bonked his wife on the head while she was sleeping.

That, combined with the need to create storage space in the loft, has meant another move. This time upstairs into the loft. I have now put floorboards down and technically have 12ft x 8ft of space to play with. I am thinking of 2ft width boards around the room, allowing lots of moving space. I still need to use the space for storage but with the layout around the outside I can still store underneath the tables.

I have rigged up some basic electricity at the moment, but I really am not the greatest and need some proper cabling putting in at some point as it does get kinda cold and running a Halogen Heater off an extension, at the same time as lighting, the layout, plus possibly tools (Drill, Dremel, Soldering Iron to name a few) I suspect will overload the circuit (AGAIN).

As such please ignore all plans for whats the shape trackwork will take for now. I have to do (yet) another track diagram with lots of room for a station or two, depot and other bits as needed.

I now have my DCC Controller (Bachmann Dynamis) and have chipped the Voyager so I have something to have a run with until I can afford to get my other locos converted. I suspect the 66 will have to be swapped for a later Dapol/GraFar version which is DCC Ready.

I also have an offer by a friend (who is a far better photographer than I am) to take photos of my layout and its progress so photos should be coming soon - AT LAST!!.

5th September 2008 - All Change Please!!! Trackplan included PDF Print E-mail

TRACKPLAN INCLUDED. LASTEST STOCK NEWS.

The main board is now suspended from the ceiling to the relief of the whiff (Thanks Darren cos I knew I wouldn't be able to do it on my own Laughing) so I can crack on with this now the dark nights are drawing in. The dimensions of the main board are approx 90cmx180cm (3ftx6ft) but I have designed the trackwork to fit into 80cmx170cm to save me any trouble.

26th May 2008 - Depot Board PDF Print E-mail

Well, I have had some spare time this week so, instead of tackling the still blank baseboard, I have started on the depot board, its a lot smaller at 30cmx90cm (3ftx1ft) and isn't as overwhelming to start with.
