Well, I have had some spare time this week so, instead of tackling the still blank baseboard, I have started on the depot board, its a lot smaller at 30cmx90cm (3ftx1ft) and isn't as overwhelming to start with. I have four lines on the depot, with three of them going into the depot building (once built from a kit at ScaleScenes or scratchbuilt I suspect) and one line where I will park a fuel tank or two to allow refueling of my Diesel Loco fleet. All four of these lines merge into one to leave the board allowing connection to either a second 30cmx90cm (3ftx1ft) board or directly onto the large board once I get the urge (and the track) to actually tackle it. I have also bought my first two point motors (again for this depot board) and have all the things needed to wire them in, except the confidence TBH. I also need to add some isolating sections within the depot area to allow storage of more than one loco on each line (I think I have space for three on each of the shed lines). I have allowed space behind the depot area to put a small station building or let the mainline pass by, alternatively, I could place a larger carriage shed next to it for the Voyager/coaching stock (and prospective 150/156 units in the future). Either that or I just scenery it as part of the town |
